This is just a really neat invention and the enviromental implications are wonderful. Professor Robert Linhardt, of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and his team have developed batteries made of paper. Although currently samples of the paper batteries are small, postage stamp size, they do produce enough power to illuminate a small light.
A great article about the batteries, their applications, and how they work can be found here through the BBC News.

This must have been a really popular item yesterday. I saw it blogged all over the place. Maybe this invention REALLY WILL take off and become a mainstream product.
